Henna FAQ
Are you available for private appointments?
How much does it cost to book an event?
There are two options for me working an event. Private events like birthday parties, cost $100 per hour. Festivals, carnivals, fairs can either be paid at the hourly rate by the host or I can set up and folks can purchase their own henna.
Is henna safe? Even for pregnant bellies?
My henna is made at home with only 4 ingredients or sourced where I know the ingredients and quality: henna powder, lemon juice, eucalyptus oil (sometimes tee tree or lavendar oil as well), and sugar. Let me know if you have an allergy to any of these three oils. Otherwise, it is completely safe
Yes! You can absolutely henna pregnant bellies. They are stunning! You could do this before a beach trip, a photo shoot, or baby shower!
How do I prepare for getting a henna?
01
Since you don’t want to get moisture on your henna for 24 hours, shower ahead of time.
02
Do not apply any lotions, serums, or oils where you’ll be getting a henna beforehand. This will block the henna from being able to soak in and stain.
03
For the days leading up to getting a henna, exfoliate and then moisturize. The healthier the skin is, the more easily is can absorb the dye and become darker.
How do I care for my henna?
01
Let dry completely, appx. 45 minutes. DON’T touch it.
02
DON’T REMOVE WITH WATER! Let fall off skin naturally outside. If it starts to flake inside, scrape off loose bits into the trash. Flakes that fall can still stain.
03
Henna starts out a bright orange and will take about 48 hours to darken fully. This is normal!
04
After 24 hours, you can shower. Before you do, rub stain with baby oil or coconut oil to protect from moisture.
05
Before you shower (or wash hands, etc), rub stain generously with baby oil or coconut oil to protect from moisture.
What styles of henna do you do?
I have many designs for private sessions and events, ranging from flowers to more traditional pieces. For specific animals or characters, I can transfer the design to your skin to henna over so that you can get the design just as you want it. (Some limits on size or style apply, given the henna medium.) I’m happy to work with you if there is a theme or certain focus for your event.
